Giant Guide Dots

While not discussed in his book, Marler's collection had several of these varieties with plate positions indicated. These varieties will be discussed in detail, by Leopold Beaudet in a future issue of The Admiral's Log.

1¢ Green Large Guide Dot Right

Not in Marler: "Giant Guide Dot" inside the portrait oval at right centre.

2¢ Carmine 5LL2

Not in Marler: Very large Guide Dot in the left inner oval. In his collection, Marler, had this position indicated as 6UL2. Based on Leopold Beaudet's examination of the plate proofs at Archives Canada, this is actually from 5LL2. Note that this stamp is type O1. The dot in the top margin above the 'O' is constant.

7¢ Bistre Large Guide Dot Arc a

Not in Marler: A very large guide dot just inside the portrait oval at left. It is intersected by a Compass Arc. There is also a short vertical line in near the centre of the left margin.
