Reiche Reported CPVs

In 1987, Hans Reiche self-published a small yellow covered pamphlet: Canada The Admiral Flaws. There were well over 260 hand drawn diagrams with written descriptions presented.

While it can be a challenge to match individual stamps to these diagrams, here we attempt to do just that. Our current working model is based on the idea that finding a second example of particular CPV is a very good indication of a match to Reiche's diagram.

This page offers quick links to specific Reiche CPVs of most Admial values. Throughout the site, the actual plate position (if known) will have precidence over the Reiche number for the same CPV.

Hans Reiche (1914 - 2000) was an electrical engineer and philatelist who wrote many philatelic publications and articles. His 1961 booklet "Constant PLATE VARIETIES of the CANADA SMALL QUEENS" (Handbook No. 4 / The British North America Philatelic Society) was the first non-catalogue addition to my philatelic library. That booklet was one of the primary instigators of my continuing passion for Constant Plate Varieties.
I did not have the opportunity to meet Mr. Reiche, but we did have a brief correspondence regarding precancels on Canada's Small Queens.
